And wrong she was for now as she hits more rock and not iron. Regardless she was staying optimistic as she was mining and she was still hoping to find more iron as iron was the only thing other than coal that she knew she could successfully mine right now, and coal was definitely not worth all of the effort to get it out as the value was so low and there was so much of it. You'd think with all of that coal there there would be a lot of diamonds somewhere in the mine.

Of course she had to mention coal as she got into another large section of coal. She wasn't sure how this would work out. So she went out around the coal and again let a dwarf come over and mine through the coal and yet again the dwarf mined at a ridiculous pace that there was no way she could match even at her best. She continues on through a new section and is still hoping for some more iron. She still feels like it wont be long before she finds more iron. Last time she felt that though it lead to rock and then coal.

Alexi mines out some coal and is amazed by how much coal there is in this vein. As she mines it out she puts it in the donate area she had allotted. By the time she is done there is 20 pounds of coal there. She had actually mined it out quicker than she had though that she was going to. She was proud of herself and the dwarves didn't seem to view her as an outsider as much as they had earlier now. She wasn't going to tell them that she had accidentally broke the Onyx earlier as that would have made them furious she was sure.

Alexi continues mining and eventually she has gotten to the point that she is just mining pure rock again. She is mining it cleaner than she had earlier but she is still not doing great. She slows down and then takes a short rest. During this time she wonders how fast someone as big as Tokara would be mining. She figured that he would make quick work of the mining but she wondered if he might lack some finesse and break things even more than she had been doing to this point. She then picks up the pickaxe again and gets back to work.

Alexi gets into another couple of pounds of iron and mines it out with more skill than before. She puts it in the donate area and a dwarf is quick to come over and take the two pounds of iron. She gets back to mining and is hopeful that she comes into more iron soon. She figures it won't be too long before she dares to try and mine a gem again. She isn't quite there though yet as she still has the shattered onyx fresh in her mind. Continuing on she is getting tired from all of the mining.

Alexi gets into the area that has had the most iron she has seen so far. She mines it out and puts it in the 'donate' pile and a dwarf comes and claims it rather quickly. Alexi takes a short break now and contemplates trying to mine the next gem she finds unless it is an onyx. She is still not over that. She then takes her pickaxe and goes back to mining again. She feels she has made good progress today but she doesn't want to leave yet as she still hasn't mined any gems to this point. Not successfully at least.

Alexi continues mining through the rock wondering what she would mine into next. Her answer is found pretty soon after she wonders this as she gets into another rather large vein of coal. When she finishes mining it all she puts it into the 'donate' area and it is quickly taken by a dwarf. Every time a dwarf comes and takes material they seem to take more and more of a liking to her. I guess it was true. The way to a dwarfs heart was through money, even if it was only a little at a time.

Alexi continues mining and comes into another bigger vein of iron. She mines out the 3 pounds of iron and sets it into the donate area where it is quickly taken by a dwarf. She takes another short break at this point to catch her breath and rest her muscles. She then picks the pickaxe back up after a 15 minute break which was a much longer break than any she had taken before this point. She then goes back to mining with as much effort as she had when she had first started mining.

For the first time in quite a while Alexi is mining through pure rock again. She continues through it though as she feels reinvigorated. She is starting to debate keeping some iron and decides that from now on when she mines some iron she will set it to the other side and keep as much as she can until it is too much for her to carry and then she will put the excess to the 'donate' pile. She feels pretty foolish as she should have been doing this from the beginning. Of course that would disappoint the dwarves.

Alexi continues mining through the rock. She waits for her to get through to some other kind of metal or mineral but it doesn't happen as she keeps on continuing through the rock. This was the time when it would start to get a little discouraging again. Her fresh burst of energy was fading a little because of her lack of short term success. However she was still determined to get those gems that this mine seemed to have a serious lack of. After all, all of this mining only produced one gem that she had seen.

(Gem roll was a 6 which is a Saphire. You can mine it and it is worth 2k. It comes out in a chunk of rock that weighs 5 pounds.)

Alexi continues mining through and comes to some silver that she fails to successfully mine.  However as she mines through the silver she sees a blue glint.  She sweats nervously as she mines around the gem and then she finally manages to mine around the gem and gets the sapphire out successfully.  She does a goofy victory dance when it is out.  She then sets it over near her bottoms backpack.  Finally she managed to get a gem.  She would now continue mining until it started getting dark out.

Alexi continued mining through the rocks in the mine and was getting a little tired again. She was just finding rock again and decided to take another short break. As she does she takes out the notebook she had bought and levitates a pen writing. She was noting about getting her first gem successfully. She finishes and puts the pen away and gets the pickaxe again. She is just going through more rocks as she continues. She hopes that that will change soon.
