Traveling to the Mendefera Mines

Koroseta exits the city of Mendefera to head on her way to the Mendefera City Mines. Lucky for her Glaidus had given her a writ of permission to mine it. She was excited to be able to go out and mine somewhere relatively protected. As she gets further away from Mendefera she feels better. Apparently she just couldn't get used to the big city and preferred being out in the wilderness though there were a lot of dangers lurking around.

Just using this post to roll for the first post because it wouldn't let me on the first post of the topic.

Koroseta continues on her way. The mine is now in site in front of her and the city behind her. It was amazing how tall the city walls were. It would be interesting to find out how far away you could be and still see the city. The best part of the sight though were the mountains that could be seen in the distance past Mendefera. Where Koroseta was from the only mountains you saw had smoke coming from the middle and lava in them.

Koroseta had left the mine and was now heading to the city again. She was a little sore from having mined as she was not overly familiar with it. She wasn't sure quite what had made her decide to mine when she came to humus, she just did. As the walls of the city get bigger as she approaches them she again thinks back to how amazing it was to be near a city so huge when she had come from an island with fewer than 100 people on it.

She is almost to the city now. She figures that she should stay at an inn or something soon. At the very least she could use a good shower after having mined for so long. After all, mining wasn't exactly a clean occupation. She was now close enough to hear the everyday hustle and bustle of the city. It was a shame things had happened the way they had back home as she was feeling a little homesick now.

((Event roll was a 2 which is a good event. Good roll was a 5 which is a skill even, skill was a 10 which is tactician))

An old general walks up to Koroseta and starts talking with her about battle tactics. Apparently he is very bored to be talking to her but if she stops to listen for a short while she could really learn a lot from him. He is currently talking about learning how to fight alongside your teammates and how to turn their strengths into your teams strengths. After that he starts on about making sure that you are well protected when you set up camp for the night.

Koroseta is surprised when the old general starts talking with her about strategy. She listens with a lot of interest in the conversation as what the old man was talking about was actually very useful. He must have been very bored as he was going from subject to subject at a fast pace. She starts to doubt that he has any family as he seems very lonely. Maybe that would explain why he was so talkative.

The old general finishes some random thought about strategy and then realizes that they have reached the gate. He thanks her for listening and then goes on his way. Truly he must have been an old war general who didn't know how to do much of anything other than battle because it had become his life. Koroseta now had a more advanced knowledge of the tactician skill.

Koroseta exits the Mendefera city gates yet again. She could really get used to this. She figured that after this time she'd have to stop back at an inn. She looks to the mercenary and notices he seems a little nervous. "What's wrong?" she asks.

"This is my first mission as a Merc." he says

"Don't worry, it shouldn't be a problem. I just need an assistant mining." says Koroseta.

Surprisingly this seems to relieve him.

((The event was a 6 which is fight and then a 2 for difficulty leading to the following fight. FYI Your merc is controlled by NPC in battles. Speaking of which he too is fire element and uses a flail in battle.))

Suddenly four bandits come into view from out of the bushes. The apparent leader of the bandits speaks out. "HAH! We'll loot the ore that you just mined!" Apparently he had misheard what she said or was just that stupid. Each of the bandits were armor-less and had one dagger as weapons. With how noobish they looked they might have decided to become bandits that morning. Two bandits start running towards Koroseta and two bandits start running towards the mercenary.

The Mercenary with Koroseta pulls out his flail-mace and gets into a battle stance. So much for having had his nerves eased.

Koroseta unsheathes her two Iron Kodaichi and gets in a defensive stance waiting for them to get closer to her. She hasn't fought in a long time but they looked like total idiots to her. Right now she was really happy to have the merc with her. Granted he wasn't experienced either it still helped in the fact that at least it would be 4 on 2 instead of 4 on 1. She looks over to the inexperienced mercenary. "Don't worry. Keep the defensive and take advantage of their mistakes."

The bandits have no particular tactics as they charge. The two going after the mercenary attack with a waist level slash on the right and a chest level slash on the left.

Meanwhile the two charging at Koroseta are not using strategy either. One attacks on the front right with a vertical downward slash while the other attacks on the left with a slash to the midsection.

The mercenary with Koroseta takes both attacks and focuses on the bandit attacking him on the left, aiming at his shoulder with his flail mace.

Koroseta doesn't like the looks of this. She's going to have to get hurt to guarantee damage to the bandits. As the bandits attack she tries to block the vertical slash in the front right with one kodaichi and she takes the other attack to her midsection. She then slashes at that bandit with her other kodaichi taking advantage of the opening that was caused by that bandit's attack. If things continued like they had so far this would be a relatively easy fight.

(Assuming the damage the merc took means they deal 3 damage an attack Health 50 minus 3 is 47. Stamina is 50 minus to so it is 48)

The mercenary's strike hits true seeming to break the bandits shoulder blade.

Koroseta's attack hits as well cutting the bandits side.

The bandit that got hit by the mercenary's flail backs up to see how bad he is hurt while the second bandit slashes diagonally from upper left to lower right at the mercenary.

The bandit that is cut by Koroseta holds his side and steps back for a second surprised by how deep the wound was. The other bandit attacking Koroseta breaks from Koroseta's successful block and attempts to slash her in the side.

The mercenary takes the attack in order to aim his flail mace at the attacking bandit's ribcage.

(Merc Bandit 2 HP = 10-8 = 2)
(Koro Bandit 2 HP = 10-6 = 4)
(Merc 41 Health 25 Stamina)

Koroseta again takes the attack but this time attacks the one bandit with both Kodaichi. By the reaction the other bandit had these bandits must really not be used to taking damage. She was lucky that the other bandit attacking her had backed up, but she wondered why, he hadn't taken much damage. It was good that the mercenary she had hired was doing as well as he was. He wasn't nerving up on her like she was afraid that he might.

Health 47 minus 3 is 44. Stamina is 48 minus to so it is 46

The Mercenary's attack hits true and strikes the bandit in the ribs cracking a couple. The bandit staggers back as the strike caused him to lose his breath. The bandit with the broken shoulder decides go back to attacking and lunges forward attempting a downwards slash at the mercenary's side.

The bandit Koroseta attacks takes both hits and then collapses onto the ground leaving just one attacking her. He recovers from the strike and attempts a horizontal slash at her side in the same spot she was hit before.

The mercenary does what he has been doing and again takes the hit using it as an opportunity to land an attack on him.

Koroseta attempts to block the bandit's attack and then strike with her own attack. She hopes that this bandit will go down as easily as the other had. If he did she would go over and help her mercenary out. She was really fortunate that these bandits were so pathetic. Then again where they were seemed like a pretty stupid place to be ambushed. After all, last time Koroseta had come through here she had run into an old general who probably would have already defeated all of these bandits if they would have attacked him instead.

The bandit that got attacked by Koroseta's mercenary is knocked out leaving just the one attacking him. The one with the cracked ribs swings at the Mercenary's chest.

Koroseta strikes true and the bandit passes out leaving her having no one attacking her.

The Mercenary takes this attack and then swings his flail mace at the bandits ribs again. By now the bandit looks like he wished he was never involved in this fight in the first place. The Mercenary's attack knocks out the last bandit.

((Since it is NPC v NPC I will post the result now as it is battle ending. Makes sure to roll the #2 dice 4 times for loot the next time you post and then npc will post saying what you find on each of them.))

The mercenary reaches into his bag and pulls out some bandages covering his own wounds and motions over to Koroseta. "Come here and I'll cover your wounds." Koroseta does and when he's covering her wounds she talks with him.

"You did good in that fight. That flail is something fierce. It makes me want to make one for myself." shes says.

The mercenary chuckles at this because of how many weapons Koroseta has. Koroseta then goes and loots the 4 knocked out bandits not knowing what to find.
