The Ironhurst Iron Mine

A three post travel from Ironhurst this is one of the better Iron Mines around. The gem quality is not that great as a twenty roll would be a 1-19 sapphire with a 20 being a unique gem.

In order to mine here you must take the 'Cleaning out the mine' quest in Ironhurst.

Koroseta enters the mine and follows a dwarf that is pulling an empty cart back into the mine. She follows it up until they get to the caved in section of the mine. She takes out her pickaxe and starts loosening some of the rubble. She takes some of the rock rubble and some wood from supports and piles it into the cart. She continues along and does this a few more times until the cart is full.

Koroseta continues mining out rubble and wooden support pieces as she continues filling the mine cart after a new mine cart is brought out for her to fill up. After a while she has that cart filled as well as she continues along clearing out the rubble. There is only one other person clearing any out and it is a really lax dwarf who is putting little to no effort into mining out the rubble. She wonders why he is putting no effort in but decides that she should just mind her own business.

Koroseta loosens some more rubble as she waits for another cart to be brought to her. As soon as it is brought back she starts working on filling it. It's quite a lot of work compared to regular mining because of how much quicker the heavy work is than in mining. After a while she has this cart filled as well. She then takes a break as the cart is pulled away to be replaced by another cart. She makes a quick mental note that she is 3 tenths of the way done.

As she waits for a new cart she sets the pickaxe down for a second however her wait isn't long before another cart is brought. She picks up her pickaxe again and then goes right back to work. She has to take longer this time with loosening the rubble but before long she has this cart filled as well. The cart is taken away again which leaves Koroseta to stand there and wait for the next cart to be brought to her to fill.

Koroseta waits patiently yet again for another cart to be brought to her to fill with the rubble of the stone and wooden supports from where the mine had collapsed. After a short wait the next cart is brought to her to fill yet again. She loosens more rubble and then fills the new cart with more rubble and broken supports and before long she has this cart filled as well. She watches as they take that cart out.

Koroseta doesn't have to wait very long for the next cart to take its position at the waiting. She looses more rubble and can't help but notice that she is indeed making at least a minor dent in the rubble. She then fills this cart with more rubble. The cart is pulled away again. Koroseta doesn't overly enjoy this work and the only thing really pushing her to finish this is the knowledge that she is over halfway through.

This time Koroseta has to wait longer than normal for the cart to be brought back to her. For a while she is getting a little impatient as it is taking longer than before. She sees why though when the cart is brought back and a different dwarf is pulling it back to her. She figures it must have been a shift change or something. She then looses some more rubble and wood material. She then starts filling this new cart.

Koroseta finishes filling the cart up after a little while. The cart is then taken away to be emptied. She waits a short while before another cart is brought to her for her to fill. She looses yet more rubble from the collapsed mine and fills the cart again. The cart is then being taken away again. After the cart is taken away Koroseta stretches some as she is starting to ache a little from the labor of helping clear out the mine.

Koroseta doesn't have very long to wait before the next cart is brought before her. After loosing some more of the rubble and wood she starts filling the cart again. It takes her a bit longer to do it this time as she is starting to tire some. After a while she fills this cart as well and it gets taken away again. After figuring out how many she has filled already she lets out a sigh of relief as she has filled nine.

Of course having filled nine meant that she had only one left to fill. She looses some more material as she waits for the final cart to return. When the cart does return she is rather quick to fill it up with loose material from the collapse. The cart is then taken away and Koroseta follows it back out towards the entrance to make sure that she is cleared to go and mine freely inside the mine now.

The dwarf looks to her nodding. Alright, you can go and mine now. The cleared section of the mine is the opposite side of the fork you take to get to the collapse.

Koroseta thanks the dwarf before working her way over to the section of the mine that he had mentioned for her to use. She finds a suitable spot after a short inspection and she starts to mine. It was great to be able to mine here now because of how rich it was supposed to be with iron. She hopes to leave back for Mendefera with at least one thousand pounds of iron ore when all is said and done.

As Koroseta mines she comes to as good of a section of iron ore as you seem to ever find in the Mendefera mines. She carefully mines out the iron ore and finds that she has 3 pounds of iron there. She puts the iron in her bag before continuing on with her mining as she hoped that she would find more right off though she is unsure of what to expect because she has never mined here in the past.

As Koroseta continues mining she comes to a section of material that she was familiar with from the Mendefera mines, rock. As she digs the rock out to be able to hopefully get to some good material she notices that the rock is harder here than in the other mine. Likely because of being in the hillside. She finally gets around the rock and is back into dirt again with the hopes of getting into iron.

As Koroseta continues mining she is back to iron again before she knows it. As she digs around this iron she notices that it isn't quite as much as last time but still it is more than what she was accustomed to getting. As she mines it out she places it with her other ore. Because of the egg she has to set her pile of ore next to her bag instead of in it. This leads her to have to tell the dwarves that she is keeping it unless she says otherwise.

Koroseta mines and immediately comes into the biggest vein of iron ore that she has seen up until now. She mines it out and figures there to be 5 pounds of iron ore there. She is now up to around 10 pounds of iron ore. So far she is delighted as she has gotten about as much iron ore as she had gotten from the Mendefera mine the last time that she had been there mining. The Ironhurst Iron Mine was living up to it's name.

Koroseta continues mining and immediately comes to even more iron. Again it is a large amount of iron and as she digs it out she figures there is about 4 pounds of it there bringing her total to about 14 pounds of iron. She places the four pounds of iron with the rest of the iron that she has set aside. She goes straight back to mining as she is really encouraged by how well things are going so far.

As Koroseta continues mining she comes across something that she hasn't mined before, Natural Steel.  It takes some effort but after a while she has about 2 pounds of it next to her 14 pounds or iron that is piled up.  This is great for her as it means that it won't take much effort to make a better weapon than any that she has already now that she has material like that.  She then resumes mining happily.
