Time For Some Scouting (Traversing the Pass)

The old man leads Saori to the pass as they had managed to get past the Fomorian. As the ascend onto what is basically a narrow path carved into side of a mountain the old man starts to speak with Saori. "So what made you take this quest? Regardless, on the way there you may have an interesting choice to make." says the old man. Obviously hinting at something but not fully giving away what it was that he was referring to.

Saori would have successfully bypassed the gigantic Fomorian. And it was a good thing she did. That thing would have literally tore her apart and used her bones as toothpicks or something. Regardless, the spell was deactivated as they reached safety from the gargantuan. The man asked why she would have taken this quest, and he was obviously hinting that there may have been more secretive purpose for this once simple scouting mission. Unsure of what he meant, she asked out of curiosity.

"Well, I was looking forward pursuing my personal goals.. This was among the only way to do it so I siezed the opportunity while it still remained available. There is a wind coming.. A breeze with such power it will rock the grounds of Atrum.." She spoke of the death of Atrum's military. Corrupted governmental procedures led to the person she had become. And she was more than thankful for that. ".. Anyway.. You obviously seem to know something that I do not. Care to share your insights?" She'd ask. She really didn't know what he could have been talking about, though a solid assumption always remained despite her words.

The old man grinned slyly after hearing that. "It sounds like you are more the type to be in the Assassin's Guild, not spying on it. After all, if you are looking to kill any specific people you never know what might pop up on their jobs list, could be some valuable information, and maybe some good pay to kill someone that you already want dead. To that point, what are they paying you to complete this mission?" The old man asks.

Saori would become surprised by the extent of knowledge that this man held on the assassin's guild. Which is odd to say the least. "You seem to know a lot about the Assassin's yourself.." The thought even crossed her mind that he may have even been a part of the guild in his youth. Which would also explain his fighting skill as well as the fact that he uses daggers to fight.

She'd ponder a moment before responding about the payment. "Honestly.. I'm not too sure what they are paying me for the mission. All I know is that this needs to be done, and its the only way I can fulfill my destiny." She'd flash a smile, though her face easily showed a facade of depression and anger. ".. And destiny cannot be changed." Her tone lower this time, vengeance flowing in her words like a river.

The old man looks at Saori funny. "Last I knew the quests had the reward posted right on the notice." Right after he said that a sharp screech like an eagle's only louder. The old man points to the sky. "Harpies! I swear woman, you bring bad luck with you. Stay alert though. If we stay focused we should be able to beat them."

Looking to where the old man had pointed one could see two harpies. They were raising higher into the air preparing for a dive.

Saori would have heard the man just finish speaking when the screeching halt of two harpies let their voices loose in the area. Her head snapped in the direction of their beckoning calls, and their distance gave Saori and the old man enough logical time to prepare for their attack. Considering the knowledge Saori had on harpies, they cannot strike straight downward as their wingspan would cause them to spiral out of control.

Saori quickly utilized what Dark Magic mana she had been channeling since their escape from the Fomorian to use what little darkness was available in the mounted crevice which Saori and the man had been traveling in. Thankfully the sun was rising behind the mountain before them, providing enough detailed darkness for Saori and the man to become enveloped completely as the Harpy's would have began to dive downward.

Despite their flight speed, which was fast to say the least, Saori had to think of a quick strategy to defeat at least one of them. Rolling out of the immediate vicinity she was in, she knew it would have been hard for the harpy to change their direction after she let them get so close. Now about ten feet away, the spell she used to envelop the area in darkness, as well as herself and her escort, would provide her with a catalyst to fight the Harpy's head on. Thanks to her rolling out of the way after becoming one with the shadows, this helped to effectively hide her position along with her newfound ally's from the incoming enemies. She would remain low, crouched and out of sight, waiting for the Harpy to come close enough to allow Saori to jump on its back and manifest direct attacks.

Spells Used/Mana Calculation:

the harpies would swoop in to a dive together almost majestic, as these bird of prey soon split away from each other. One of the harpies continues to dive at the two travelers, the other started up doing a song. The one diving at the two would let out a scream as it soon was almost upon them. The one singing voice was starting to become mesmerizing as such a song has been lost since the mermaids where slaughtered many years ago. The one singing would be just flying in circles.

The one diving would be almost one them.

The man traveling with saori got a look of worry in his eyes. “DON’T LET IT FINISH SINGING!” he yelled as he would split away from saori to make it harder for the one harpy to attack them. The man would thrust his hand out and a bunch of small rocks would fly at a harpie, but not the one coming at them. He did this so it would interrupt its singing if it hit, he prayed it would hit.

(rock shot level 2 skill) -10 mana -3 stamina. damage if it hits 5 per rock. 3 rocks in all.

Saori, having moved away from the location in which the Harpy was bolting toward, utilized her fast speed to angle a direct point of contact straight at the body of the harpy, which would lead congruent to the direction she was flying in. The elf would lash out at a burst of breakneck speed, threatening to consume the harpy in pure darkness. As the darkness was unleashed, her daggers unsheathed, gripped in tight grasp of her hands. Saori would dash toward the Harpy as the bolt would have been making contact.

The singing harpy, though bothering Saori's hearing, she hoped would be interrupted by the attack launched by her newfound partner. However, she focused on the harpy that would have just been reaching the ground as she jumped into the air and hoped her weapons made impact. This was being as though the Harpy had no clue where Saori was if she didn't just straightline into the solid rock beneath and break her neck to begin with. With daggers in hand, she threatened to rend the head from the siren in the sky, swinging wildly with three quick, pinpoint slashes at the neck.

Spells Used/Mana Calculation:

The harpie who dived turn it’s in to a landing, its wings would flap as it landed. Then its eyes pierced the darkness, it knew where saori was because of it hawk like eyes. so when she came in for her attack it wasn’t unexpected. The first slash would land on the harpy, then it backed away and racked at saori with its talons. The darkness wouldn’t hide her this time for the harpies natural ability to see in the dark. (aka the harpies have night vision.)

The rocks flung at the first harpy would all but one miss. But one rock wouldn't stop this harpy from singing, the song would soon take hold of the two very soon. But this harpy kept its fly in the circle the whole time. It was leaving the attacking to the other harpy.

The man would see the other harpy land to attack the one he was leading. He turned and does a rock shot at the back of the harpy trying to get its attention, at most he hoped it would break its wing. “aim for its wings.” Granted she may not have a strong move but if his rocks hit she might be able to wound a wing.

Saori would have seen the Harpy immediately react to the tactic employed by Saori. No way.. She thought. They have night vision. It was certain. She had to find another way to defeat them. Suddenly, the thought crossed her mind just as the man shouted for her to attack its wings. Flipping the daggers around in her hand, she'd grasp them, aim for the very place in her back in which the wings sprouted from, swinging up with one hand and down with another, creating a whirlwind effect to literally rip the wings from her body which would concurrently cause a chain reaction of lacerations and she would eventually lose consciousness from continuous blood loss.

the dive harpy was hit by the rocks in the back, causing the harpys to open its wings as it is hit. It would turn its head towards the man and when it went to turn saoris knife strikes would strike true to the birds wing. This would cause this harpy to fail around on the small cliff causing it to fall. However it would lash its talon out at saori to trip her up and take her with it. the harpy would let out a curdling scream as it started to fall.

18+15=33 damage 116-33 damage= 83 hp

The harpy singing would stop as it heard the scream of its fellow harpy. It would stop and watch as the herpy would begin to fall. This mad this harpy and became enraged. Her attacks would become even stronger now. She would fly higher in to the air getting ready to do an attack.

The man seeing the strike hit true saw the hapy lash out at saori. “LOOK OUT!” the mane would yell as he and nothing he could do for her. this was when her own luck would have to start kicking in.

Saori would have struck the bird, her dagger slicing the wings from its back causing it to fall from the cliff they stood upon prior to its landing and Saori's strike. However, as the bird fell, its talons lunged forth trying to take Saori along with it. "Oh, no you don't, bitch!" She'd scream, taking her dagger and shoving it into the talon of the bird, pushing it with enough force to toss the girl from the cliff, releasing the dagger and losing it in the process.

One less dagger was better than a dead Saori. She figured as much in her mind. However, as the bird began to fall, the serenade concocted by the harpy above stopped, presumably after seeing her ally about to die. Saori knew some bad shit was about to go down. She looked up, focusing on the position of the Harpy, diving away from the place she was, she figured this harpy was the supportive defense and backbone of the two in a fighting force. Her wings flared, signaling to Saori that this was an attack utilizing the elemental affinities of wind.

If that attack went through successfully, she'd be in for a world of hurt, especially because she was close to the edge of the very cliff the Harpy fell from. Now about ten feet from the edge of the cliff, she would slide on the crevice provided by her going down, her feet gliding across the dusted mountain at high speeds which provided enough velocity to get away quick enough to avoid being blown off of the mountain pass. As she landed, she would use the darkness at the platforms above to launch a direct Chaos Bolt at the Harpy above whom was preparing for an aerial assault. Guiding her hand, she rolled and stood, swinging her arm and directing the attack.

Tactician Lv21->22

The harpy would start to shimmer as the attack was almost to completion. The chaos bolt would hit the harpy but the magic did little damage, this harpy had some magic defense allowing her to easily maintain flight as she soon rose higher in to the. Air there would be a loud scream come from her as the shimmer of swirling winds would surround it.

The man started to look on concerned. “hold on to something!” the man palm glowed and he punched the wall and a pillar of stone popped out of the ground. “She’s going to try and blow us off the cliff face.” The man would run over to the pillar and grapple on to it. this man knew it was going to be a very strong attack. "i seen this before the attack it self dos nothing but on cliffs like this you just need gravity to do the rest."

Saori would overhear the man telling her to grab onto something. She figured that the attack was a wind-based attack in an attempt to blow the two off of the mountain prior to him speaking, but he only solidified her assumption. She'd take her dagger out and jam it into a wall next to her, placing her free hand on a rock that couldn't possibly break from her weight because it had been eroded into the mountainside, allowing her to press the force of her body against the mountain to avoid the gust of wind the Harpy was unleashing.

Grasping onto the surface of the mountain and squeezing the living hell out of the dagger she had slammed into the mountain, she held her breath in an attempt to further weigh down her body. Holding her breath would halt the breathing motion of her body, raising her body temperature. The temperature would cause blood to travel to the necessary parts of her body, notably, the hands, feet and chest area. This wouldn't weigh her down necessarily, though it would give her a momentary adrenaline rush so as to provide enough strength to hold on as much as possible. Exhaling, the blood rushed through her veins like a raging river, she closed her eyes momentarily to deal with the sudden light headed feeling, though quickly snapped back into reality, focusing on the Harpy above.

Tactician Lv22->23

The old man would see the elf girl attempting to hold herself to the wall trying to maintain her position so as to remain on the mountain. Noticing the problem, he quickly utilized the earthen pillar he used to hold himself up and summoned one directly in front of her. This would raise in the fraction of a second, causing the force to both save her from the gust of wind, though fracturing two of her ribs in the process.

The harpy above would have bolted downward in an angled position, allowing her wings to pick up a generous amount of wind pressure. Pushing down on her wingspan, the element she has both empowered the capability of the wind gust technique, blowing hurricane like winds throughout the area as she reached a hovering stance above the grounds below. This would do universal damage to the surrounding area, though due to the man having saved Saori, the only real damage she took was the fracturing of her ribs. The harpy will need to rest while it prepares to get ready.

Saori would yell out in pain as the pillar crushes against her, fracturing her ribs. "Fuck!" She'd scream. Trying to wiggle from the pillar, she eventually got loose and fell to her knees. "Get.. Her now!" She'd yell to the old man, hoping he would hear her and her disgruntled cries of anguish. She wasn't sure how much else she could do in this fight if it didn't end now. She hardly has the capability to stand up due to the pain surging throughout her body right now, though she managed to stumble to her knees, her left foot planted on the ground as she held her right side with her hand, gritting her teeth. Breathing heavily, she tried to use willpower to stand up, though her position faltered as she stumbled and fell back to her knees.

Tactician Lv23->24

the harpy would hover above the ground as it had to catch its winds back. The spell it used was very powerful for even its level, the wind gust seemed to have been averted by the earth mage. It would make this harpy rather mad as it stays in the one spot to regain its stamina. The bird was vulnerable to attacks while it was resting.



The old man didn't have to wait to hear saoris tell him what to do. He was on it like nothing. He used earth javelin to break one of the earth pillars and hovered it over him and threw it at the harpy. The stone its self would weigh in at around 100 pounds being thrown at the harpy it would gain speed. If this skill hit the harpy it would do massive damage.

Saori would stare as the pillar made its way toward the Harpy, all hopes pointing to her possibility of watching its spine get crushed under the force generated by the pillar thrown by the man. Crossing her fingers, her teeth grit harder, looking at the Harpy and whispering the word bitch under her breath. "DIE!" She'd scream, yelping immediately after from the rib injuries.

As the man heard Saori yell die, he keeps the javelin of earth true. The javelin speeds up as gravity soon takes its toll, which would make contact with the spine of the Harpy, its head turned just fast enough to watch the pillar crack its spine into pieces. It was surprising that something so small could make a screech so loud. Screaming in pain, she fell to the ground, bleeding out as her consciousness fell out.

The man looked at Saori, pointing. "Lets get out of here before anything else comes this way. You really are bad luck and its surprising you haven't died yet." With that, he began to run off, signaling for Saori to follow him closely. It was obvious she couldn't survive without his escort.

Saori responded, stumbling to her feet and standing, walking toward the end of Sidewind Pass. This place fucking sucked for sure. The mission itself seemed not to be worth it. Pathetically, she held her side and followed closely to the old man. She couldn't really do much at all, now even more so, due to her broken ribs and having lost one of her daggers.

Coughing up a bit of blood, she continued to followed suit, gripping her side in pain. Walking past the location where she killed the first harpy, she picked up the wing and stuffed it into the back of her chestguard, maintaining its placement to keep it from falling.

The old man continues on and then decides to take the risk and play his hand. "Last person that took this task said the pay was 2k. I'm willing to pay you 4k once we get to town to join the Assassin's guild instead of report about it to the town. It's a good offer and one you would do well to think about accepting. Being in the Assassin's guild would help you get information. It's always helped me out. Either way I will not threaten you if you decline. Having an assassin without their heart in their job is not worth it."

Saori would think about the profound offer unexpectedly made by the old man. Though her suspicions about him being a part of the Assassin's Guild were proven correct, her theory only being enforced by truth as he mentioned them always helping him out when he needed it. Hearing that he'd actually pay her an additional two-thousand gold instead of receiving that base payment, having to trek all the way back to the town after the mission.. That was glory to her ears.

Continuing onward, she held her rib, though her free hand remained having dark magic energy channel throughout her palm, preparing in case of another fight. Not that she would be able to do much good having two fractured ribs, she'd at least try and do as much as she could to help the old man out. Her plans weren't to die today though, nor tomorrow for that matter.. Not until the General of Atrum's military has fallen, slain by her hand. The Assassin's Guild was the perfect way to do so.
