Through the Pass

Sidney enters the pass. He looks around and remembers this being a bandit and goblin hotspot for ambushes. He wonders if he should have come this way as he makes his way through the pass. Sidney is on high alert and any little noise gets his full attention. He has one hand on his Plasite Cutter at all times. He still hadn't believed that he had asked for such a large building be built instead of the crude layout for a town but he figured that until he could put more personal time and effort into the town he probably shouldn't have the town built.

As Sidney continues through the pass the wind starts to pick up and the air starts getting colder. It feels as though a storm is on the way and at the altitude that Sidney is at he hopes it isn't a rogue blizzard. They weren't all that common but they weren't unheard of around here. The wind causes a lot of odd noises through the pass and if there was something near by setting an ambush he probably would be unable to hear it over the howling of the wind.

Sidney continues through the pass and the wind starts to subside a little while still being a bit colder than what Sidney would prefer. He wonders if it will stay weaker or if it will pick up stronger than before. With the only sky he could see being directly overhead he can't really tell by looking at it as he was unable to see what was coming whether it be lighter or darker skies. All that he could see weather-wise was the constant flickering that gave the pass it's name. It was funny how the pass seemed to funnel the light from the tempestas storms throughout itself.

((6 - fight, 4 - Weak and now that it's back in Humus it is weaker than it would have been in Tempestas.))

Suddenly two weird little creatures can be seen in front of Sidney. Each of them carry cudgels. "You be dead!" one yells out before they both start running towards Sidney. They seem like they will be an easy fight, but you never do know.

Sidney sees the goblins start to charge him. He frowns as he is hoping there won't be more drawn by the sounds of battle. He should end this quickly but he doesn't want to use the energy it takes to use the Plasite Cutter. He draws his old-forge sword and pre-empts their attack with a lunge at slash at the goblin on the right aiming towards the right side of it attempting to put the goblin between himself and the other goblin.

The goblin grunts as it is hit. It swings its cudgel at Sidney's side hoping to hit him in the Kidneys. The other Goblin starts to travel back around the goblin that was hit. Truth be known, if it was smarter it would have been able to have gotten to a better position quicker but this was no smart creature.

Sidney gets hit square in the kidney and drops to a knee as he gasps. He drops his sword and closes his eyes from the shock of the sudden pain. He is stunned from the attack and can't move to attack or defend from a subsequent attack. The shock causes a drop in blood pressure leading to him feeling disoriented and light headed. If he hadn't had the armor on who knows how much worse the hit would have felt. It had been foolish of him to abandon his typical wait and see battle approach.

(Sidney takes 4 Damage from the first attack due to the armor.  He takes an additional 8 from these attacks due to being unable to move.)

The goblin lets out an excited screech and then swings it's cudgel at Sidney's back.   The strike connects and the second goblin starts making a ton of noise, it's hollering trying to get more goblins to come.

(The 6 side is to determine if any more goblins come.  1-4 will lead to more goblins.  The 20 side is only to be applied if the 6 Side brings more goblin.  The twenty side will decide how many.  The results will be 1-2 = 1 3-4 = 2, etc.)

Suddenly 4 more goblins rush to the aide of the first ones. One of them runs forward and attempts an attack at Sidney's skull.

Sidney grunts as he is hit in the back with a cudgel and suddenly more goblins come with one of them charging directly at him attempting to crack his skull. Sidney manages to regain body control and in instinct attempts to block the attack with both the old forge sword and the plasite cutter with the plasite cutters blade coming out. He closes his eyes in reflex to not wanting to be hit in the skull. The result was the plasite cutter trying to cut into the unbreakable old forge sword. Suddenly there is a brilliant spark of light just like one would expect from an arc welder.

As the light flashes all of the goblins shriek and start trying to run off while covering their eyes. "Burn! Eyes burn! Witchcraft! He uses Witchcraft!" All of the goblins flee.

((End of battle, no experience or rewards.))

Sidney opens his eyes when he hears the shrieking. He can't see well because even having had his eyes closed the flash still disrupted his vision. He stretches, feeling the aches from the hard blows. He then is quick to move on as best as he can down the trail. He is afraid that while the goblins ran away because of the flash that something else, worse, might be attracted to the flash for some reason.

As Sidney continues along the pass he realizes that there is a lot of downhill now which means he must be getting near the end of the pass. He is thankful that he is almost out, at the same time he still isn't out yet. Just because he can see the end of the pass in sight does not mean that he can afford to let his guard down yet. His hand goes back to the sheathed Plasite Cutter.
