Preliminary Round Match 6: Koroseta Mauiliu vs. Hena Warkic

An older man with gray hair, wearing black pants, a white shirt and a red bowtie is standing in the middle of the tile floor of the arena awaiting Koroseta and Hena.

A large female minotaur walks briskly to the center of the arena. She is clad in a kind of two piece leather and cloth armor with full leather and cloth pants and then a gap over her stomach and a full leather and cloth armor above that, the gap over her stomach is actually somehow covered by a fine chainmail. She is wielding an ornate yet rugged greatsword. She is silent as she stands next to the referee and her face has an extremely serious looking expression.

Koroseta walks into the arena and towards the competitor and referee at an average pace. She is equipped with her stylish armor and armed to the teeth with weapons. Nuanua is not with her for this as she wasn't comfortable with Nuanua fighting. As she gets there she pauses for a second and looks around at the Arena. If this was all there was for a fighting platform she figured it would be pretty good as it was a rather even and open playing field.

The referee motions for both Koroseta and Hena to stand where they are supposed to and once they are both there he speaks. The only real rules here are to stop fighting if your opponent is unconscious or gives up. If you say that you give up, you immediately lose. Also, please note that the sphere around the fighting area is magic and will repel you if you come into contact with it so try not to. Now make sure to stay still as the arena will now morph and the only places that are guaranteed safe are the starting points and a spot for me.

After saying this the referee stays where he is and the tiles turn to earth and then sprout grass and some daisies, black eyed susans and some goldenrod. The terrain is mostly flat and is just a plains like area. After the area finishes changing the referee motions and yells Begin Fight!

As soon as the fight is deemed to have been started Hena puts her hands out in front of her. The area around Koroseta synthetically darkens as a magic spell saps the light from a region that is a 5 foot semi-sphere around Koroseta. Hena laughs, What will you do now Hume? It's hard to fight without being able to see isn't it? After saying this Hena begins to rush towards Koroseta, making about 5 yards worth of progress into the 20 yard separation.

(-5 Stamina, -30 Magic)

Koroseta silently curses to herself as the opponent immediately dims her vision. There is only one thing that she figures that she can do to try and see. She focuses and holds a hand out in front of her as she builds magic in her hand before she looses a good sized fireball towards where she had last seen her opponent. Her opponent is in range of the attack and she is hoping to possibly harm her opponent with it or to at least briefly see.

(Yes that would dissipate the spell)

Hena looks surprised as Koroseta uses a fire spell to disperse her own spell, her look of arrogance goes away as well, giving way to a look of shock.  She is even more surprised when it comes straight at her.  She turns her greatsword to the side in an attempt to block the fireball.  She cringes as it hits as she isn't used to this kind of fight, she is used to easy prey that panicked when it was held within a shroud of darkness.

(The sword dissipates the spell by but it does an area damage of 10 to Hena)

Koroseta takes out a sai and a kunai. She holds the sai in her left hand and she throws the kunai at Hena's shoulder before drawing her second sai. She approaches Hena steadily, waiting to see if there ends up being an opening from her kunai throw. She twirls her sais as she approaches the opponent, readying them for any of their multiple purposes. She had always thought that sais were an overlooked and underutilized weapon.

Hena moves sideways a little to dodge the kunai and then she runs towards the approaching Koroseta. She slashes downwards with her great sword aiming right at her shoulder.right next to her neck on the side of Koroseta's armor that doesn't have quite as much protection. Hena would have aimed for Koroseta's head but in this case it would be way to easily dodged if she did, especially from the distance that Hena was moving. Aiming at the shoulder near the neck would force contact.

Koroseta curses out loud but too quietly for anyone to make out what she said as she watches Hena dodge the kunai. As Hena rushes her and slashes down at Koroseta, Koroseta blocks the sword with her sais. As she does so she attempts to wrench the blade, trying to loose Hena's grip on it. Of course her success all depends on how strong her opponent is. If Hena overpowers her this maneuver would prove dangerous.

Hena cringes as she realizes what Koroseta is doing. It's too late though as Koroseta wrenches the sword out of Hena's hands. Koroseta would notice that the great sword was actually feather light. Hena has to think on her hooves and raises her hand, again using the darkness spell that she had used earlier to temporarily blind Koroseta again. She is hoping that it will cause Koroseta to do something foolish or something that will miss her.

Koroseta smirks as she wrenches the light great sword away from Hena. The smirk is quickly wiped away from her face however, as Hena uses that damned darkness spell again. Not quite sure at how it works, she cusses internally again before blindly lunging towards where Hena had last been using both of her sais. Worst case scenario would be that Hena could still see her and simply dodge and counter with an attack that Koroseta would be unable to see. Best case scenario it would hit, injure Hena considerably and dispell the darkness magic.

Again Hena was not expecting such a quick and sure strike from Koroseta so she IS caught off guard as she is hit in the stomach with the sais in what is actually two pretty nasty puncture wounds that would need to be attended to immediately after the fight. She backs away and holds her stomach causing her focus to be lost on the spell and indeed dissipate the spell yet again. Without a weapon or being able to focus on her spell she is extremely vulnerable.
