Traveling Back Home

Sidney walks out of the gate of Mistcliff heading on another journey. He would really have to put a lot of effort to get where he needed in the time he had to. As he walks he remembers how he had always hated central Tempestas. The constant thunder and lighting made it appear as though the sky was always angry and occasionally you would walk past a spire meant to draw lightning into lightning crystals which were used to power several inventions from Tempestas.

Sidney can here a roar and then see a Tempestan Lion running towards him. The only difference between a Tempestan and a Normal Lion are that the Tempestan Lions are twice the size of a regular lion. As it charges Sidney it appears to be going for a lunge. It jumps in the air and looks like it will be coming down and hitting Sidney with its big paws and biting him all at once if he does not figure out how to get out of its way somehow.

Sidney starts to panic. He draws his Lightning sword and slashes in front of him in a vertical downward slash. As he does so he figures that it will knock one of them backwards. To his horror he is wrong, the blade goes straight through and appears to do nothing. There is not even a flesh wound on the monster! Now all Sidney can do is brace for the impact and hope that he either is able to fight it off or that his death will be quick and painless.

Luckily for Sidney the sword did slice through internally and as it cut the nerves of the brain in two the monster died in midair. Unfortunately for Sidney it still had to land and did so, right on top of him. He would likely be able to crawl out from under it but he got hurt from the impact.

Sidney gets squished by the lion essentially. He slowly manages to crawl out from under the behemoth lion. As he got up he felt his ribs and massaged them a little, luckily nothing was broken. He looks at the front of the lion in astonishment. He still didn't know how it worked but it appeared to have done the job. At closer examination he sees that it is bleeding from the mouth which would indicate external bleeding. He then looks the lion over for anything he could loot off from it.

Sidney finds some loose fur that he could gather if he wished. There is about half of a pound of it.

Sidney leaves the fur there and continues on his journey. He is still checking his ribs and feels a bit better now as he walks. He hoped it would be a while before the next encounter because if things kept at that rate he would be thoroughly screwed. As he continues walking the stormy weather continues and actually picks up a little. The whole time Sidney is worried that he may get struck by lightning directly this time. With that in mind Sidney picks up his pace heading towards the distant mountains a little bit faster than he already had been.

Sidney continues through the open plains of Tempestas towards the distant mountains. Every now and then there was a stunted tree. He was still passing spires as well. As he continues on he looks at his new-found sword. He would have to try to read up on it when he had an opportunity. He looks behind him as he continues along every now and then to make sure nothing was coming up behind him. On the open plains things could spot you from a long ways away and most of them were fast.

It doesn't take long before Sidney starts getting bored of the constantly monotonous surroundings. The lull in travel makes him think about what he'd like to do in his hometown. It was no longer listed as a town and right now he'd be able to rename it if he had a large enough population. He figured he would indeed rename it to go along with it's new start. It was going to be hard on him reviving the town because of all of the memories that he had there.

As Sidney continues along he pictures the town rebuilt in his mind and thinks about how he would be content to just settle down with a nice girl and live out his life there without having to fight monsters. Yep, it would be nice. It would never happen but it would be nice. Sidney was sick of fighting but the monsters seemed to be escalating in numbers and in aggressiveness as of late. Sidney notices that while he has continuously been walking towards a landmark peak in the distance he doesn't seem to be getting closer to it due to the depth perception.

"Damn these never ending plains." This had to be the second most boring place he could think of to travel with the most boring being Igneus. The only thing that made this better was the lack of heat and the constant jump you would get when lighting struck near you. Fortunately the spires that were throughout the plains drew most of the lightning to them. Sidney sighs as he had traveled a great distance and was getting a little tired of it but he had a long way to go before he would set up camp as he did not want to set up camp in the middle of the plains.

It was about now that Sidney really was thinking he should have bought another horse for the trip as it was really taking a toll on him doing all of this travelling. He still didn't feel fully recovered from being in the hospital so long. Again Sidney starts stretching as he travels on trying to work out any kinks he still had in the system. Overall though he really felt as though he could feel the improvement. He wasn't too far off from where he had been before and truth be known he was probably going to end up quite a bit stronger than he used to be.

As Sidney continues walking finally the mountains in front of him start appearing to get closer. He was at the very least making visible progress. In fact he figured he was about halfway to where the scenery would turn over to forest. Sidney figured that if he had to find someone to hire he would head to Mendefera instead of Mistcliff as it was about the same distance to either one from where Hopenheim used to be and Mendefera had a larger population and more people without jobs.

As Sidney continues along he gets to thinking again. Aside from the initial fight he was lucky not to have run into anything else again out on the road. Usually something would have happened by now. This thought started to creep him out and he was looking around and surveying his surroundings more than usual. He also would have been soaked to the bones now because of the stormy weather but luckily for him he had his armor on which seemed to do a pretty good job at repelling the rain.
