The makings of a Team?

Tokara would be storming though the streets of the city growling. It wasn’t because of the free armor it was because of the state of the free armor. The sword he had in the leather binding of his plate mail was broken, the armor it’s self was damaged and older then him. the only piece of gear worth any use was the two handed mace, and even that was rusting away. Then he snapped and smashed the mace head in to the stone road leaving a nice chunk broken. “This is bull shit! This armor is better off scraped. The sword is broken and the mace here is rusting away.” His temper could be herd in his voice, it wasn’t often that Tokara would snap and for such a large man like him to snap like this meaning he really was unhappy.

He would continue to walk a little ways down the road he was standing with in eye sight of a gate to the city. “ugh I need to find some shops or a post men to send a letter to the peace keepers telling them this idea would be better if they actually gave us armor worth fighting in.” the tall man just shook his head as a few people just moved away from him. all he could do was put his face in to one palm and sigh an aggravated groan.

Completely use to his temper, none of Tokara's behavior shocked her. She was actually impressed he didn't go off harder since he was used to such nice gear *better not mention that again since I didn't help save it...*. Not like she was impressed with the gear either, did they not have ANYTHING smaller... even the gear of a Dwarf would have been shorter... but still too wide for her.

"If the gear is so bad, lets stop wandering around in a huff and ask one of those lacky guards where the local blacksmith's is... and tailor and leatherowrker if at all possible... there's no way i can wear this without it being in the way" If she didn't give him something to do, he would just keep brooding about his crap gear. "Did we try that street?" she asks pointing left... barely able to point while holding her armor.

Avril followed Sidney into the capital and then asked the question that had popped into her head as they passed into the city gates. "So, since no one else seems to be able to teach me about fighting because they don't have the time, or think that women can't fight like a LOT of people I know... Can I follow you for a while? It seems like you'd be a good source from which I could learn the supposed 'arts' of fighting." The question was out of the blue and probably would catch Sidney off guard. He also may have noticed the irritation in her voice when she spoke of people not thinking women could fight.

As Sidney walked into the Capital followed by Avril she dropped a random unexpected question. Could she follow him for a while to learn how to fight. It was something that wasn't easy to answer. On one hand, it would be good to team up with a person, or even a few people, but on the other hand, for a while at least, she would be a liability. Sid stops walking and hesitates for a moment.

"That's something I need to think about." says Sid hesitantly. "I'm not against it really... I'm just not sure if it's really logical." It was then that he had remembered what he had sworn to do. Protect those that couldn't protect themselves. While she wasn't HELPLESS, she wasn't handy at fighting... YET.

He then sighs, coming to the decision that if he said no she would just go back out again. "I suppose, if you want to... Let's go find a Guard." as he finishes saying that he notices a grumpy large man that kind of looks familiar. He starts walking towards him, but doesn't pay too much attention. He figures that when he gets closer he should be able to recognize him, and if he doesn't, then he will just continue on to the next guard he sees.

Tokara looks at Falabella for a moment and then turns. ”nah the tailors would be probably further away from the blacksmiths. I don’t think a tailor would want their cloth to smell like soot.” Then as Tokara lifted the mace on to his shoulders he saw a familiar asinine person. Or at least he thought it was them the only way to tell was by calling out his name. “Is that you Hawkins.” His voice traveled over the street in a deep tone. The giant of a man started to walk up to him just to make sure it was him if it wasn’t.

Towering over the man he though was Hawkins by about two feet the large blond haired man squinted his eyes trying to make eye contact with him. But it was rather hard to get that good of an angle.

*he's not going to let me get my stuff tailored is he... he wants me to suffer... all because of his damn gear... i should have just saved him... *

Hearing her brother call to someone, she looks over, and sees two people... *what are the odds of seeing someone you know so far from home?* *wait... is that... a girl?? Gotta be on my guard now, who knows what an Ass he'll make of himself now...* At least it seemed he wasn't talking to the girl when he called out, maybe he hasn't noticed yet.

Quickly tryint to catch up to Tokara, she trips over the legs of her chaps that are falling out of her arms... and falls flat on her face... she gets up immediately praying her brother didn't see her fall or he may think twice about taking her with him.

Avril was ecstatic about being able to shadow him and learn from him. She then watched as a giant of a man and a tiny girl approached. The man called out to Sidney when he was really close to him. She sees the girl trip and cringes. As Sidney and this giant man are face to face, kind of, she walks over to the tiny girl to see is she's alright. "Are you o.k., that's quite the nasty fall you took. It looks like you came from the barracks too." She says looking at the girl, "I was thinking of sewing my gear up." Avril is outright ignoring the giant man.

Honestly Sid hadn't at first noticed Falabella and when she fell he couldn't see her because all he could see was big ol' Tokara. As Tokara said Sid's last name hesitantly Sid nodded. "Then it is you Tokara. It's been quite some time. What brings you to the Capital anyways?" after he finishes the question he notices Avril talking to Falabella. Sid does a small wave to Falabella to say hi while not interupting Tokara's response to his question.

It was rather odd seeing Tokara and Falabella here. Sidney wasn't from all that far away, but last he knew Tokara and Falabella had lived way over in Lymphae. Sid had last seen them several years ago when he had underwent some training in Lymphae.

tokara was surprised that Sidney was here as well. Then he noticed the girl walk up to falabella who he had not heard fall over. He then turned his attention back to Sidney actually striating up he looked down on Sidney. “Well Sidney I came here to fight. The peacekeeper recruitment has reached even Lymphae, so I came here. But unfortunately I was robbed of my gear getting here.” He made sure flabella could hear that. But then he looks at Sidney’s armor the leather chaps and noticed he actually had two dagger of decent worth. Then he looked back at the girl who was helping his sister and looked her over. Considering there back was turned to him and sid.

“is she with you?” asking in a quizitive tone but then he shook his head to get back in to focus. “hm it seems you been to the recruitment place too. Those chaps are bad but the daggers where did you get them they had nothing there that good.”

Falabella cringes at her brother's tone when mentioning his gear... *wonder how long it'll take before he's over that...*. Hearing the name of the man her brother was talking to, she vaugely recalls a small memory from home. It doesn't leave a terribly good taste in her mouth... apparently she hadn't really liked him before. We'll see how it turns out now, he was polite enough to wave a little at least.
Wait... Looking back at the young woman in front of her, hope shining in her eyes, "You can sew!? Do you think you can help me this this?? All of it is Way too big for me but Tokara just thinks its funny"

Avril is now paying sole attention to the girl. "Sure I can. It's been a little while and I'm not the best, but I can at least do that for you. I was thinking of patching up Sidney's chaps too." Avril then notices that the girl has a bow too. "I don't know if you want to or not, but I could use a little of the excess leather to make a little bit bigger of a quiver for you too. Oh, my name's Avril Bellevue by the way, what's yours?"

Sid listens to Tokara over-emphasising the part about losing his gear to bandits and wonders what that's about. He then hears the question about Avril and chuckles a little. Then is asked about the gear.

"I guess she's with me" he says shrugging. "I have no reason to be here, and no agenda, and since I've been here for 6 months kind of against my will, as was my arrival here, I'll be happy to leave and I guess she'll be tagging along." As he mentions his time here in Mendefera his facial expression turns to one of half frustration and half sadness, but it goes away as soon as he starts talking about leaving.

"Yeah, the gear was pretty crappy, that's why I took mine to Glaidus' Workshop, he's a smithy that lets people use his workshop equipment for free so long as you don't break anything. Believe it or not these daggers were two broken longswords before I took em to the grinding stone and made these daggers from them."

Tokara listened to Sidney as he said how long he had been here. “6 months what happened to you that you stayed here for that long. I remember you being one to move to the next town as soon as you could. But never mind that lets go to that blacksmiths. I could use something better than theses.” He took the broken sword out from behind him and held the rusted mace up. He looked around at the other two and thought for a moment. He did here the other girl say she was going to hem her own gear up and an idea popped in to his head.

“Sidney lets collect some gear and travel supplies. Fix our self’s up and head to the coast town east of here, from the sounds of things the roads aren’t so safe to travel alone.” This was probably the best idea tokara has ever had. That’s saying something…

I'm Falabella Shire, nice to meet you Avril. I don't think I'll be needing a bigger quiver though, my weapon of choice is needles... or darts if you may... this was the closest thing this place had, and with chasing after him *motioning to Tokara* I didn't have time to pack much for gear."

Half an ear turned toward Tokara, she heard him talk about gearing up *sweet! ... wait... I've been telling him we needed to fix our gear since we were in the guardposst... but if he wants credit for the idea... i'll let him have it* She re-hoists her armor in her arms, getting it settled so it wouldn't trip her again. "Looks like we get to fix our stuff before moving out, you guys think you'll be joining us? the more the merrier..." She looks Avril over closely... scrutinizing her intentions... "But don't even Think about going after Tokara! Keep to that rule and we'll be best of friends" She states this last part smiling, she never had many female friends because of her brother... ok, because of her chasing them off too...

"That goes for you too Sidney!" *can't be too careful*

Where Avril was following Sidney she didn't make any move to go anywhere, she waited for his decision. When she heard Falabella say about not going after Tokara she laughed lightly. "That is something you do not have to worry about. I have no interest in men, they're chauvinistic, the lot of them. They look down on you and try to suppress you just because you're a woman. I'm no one's possession!" After saying that Avril blushes a little. "Sorry, I suppose I got a little carried away." It probably seemed odd, her reaction, but knowing her past one would likely understand why she got fired up.

((Sorry bud, lol, due to how epicly vague you were, and how sudden the whole 'Let's do this!' thing is, Sid's gonna give ya a bit of a hard time, lol.))

Since Sid's story as to why he has been here so long is a long one, he doesn't explain it yet and focuses on what Tokara said about the blacksmith's. Since Tokara had not asked said to actually do anything except to go to the blacksmith's he asks Tokara, "So, you know blacksmithing techniques too or are you paying Glaidus to do it?" He then takes notice of what Falabella said and before he can comment Avril goes on an anti-men rant. Sid hesitates before saying, "That is nothing you need to worry about, I'd NEVER be interested."

He then responds to Tokara as far as traveling is concerned. "I agree about getting stuff prepared, and that travelling in a group is safer, but what interests you in going to the port in the east? And I should warn you, I'm not in fighting shape if I... or we as it seems to be.... do go with you." Sid then thinks for a bit, 'It's a shame, east is the total opposite of where I intended to go, but I suppose that business can wait...'

The rant from Avril made Tokara look at her. It was almost a look of fear, Leaning towards Sidney and whispers to him. “if she fights as fierce as she talks, she might be a great fighter.” He was surprised by her outburst. Then he looked at Sidney to answer his question about the blacksmithing.

“I unfortunately have no skill in blacksmithing; however I have had the pleasure of mining with a dwarf miner of great renown. So I if I must pay for the craft from a blacksmith I will.” He pulled out his pouch of gold and jingled it. Then he stuffed it back in to his tunic under the armor. Then he answers sidney’s question on why to head east.

“why head east, thought it may not be the closest it’s by far the easiest travel.” Tokara leaned down and drew a common soldier’s map in to the ground, basic but gave an idea of the areas. “the road is more straight and with a port there we can acquire information on the status of the other continent’s and if not uncommon gear. Also I have to send a note to my trainer telling her all my funds and armor has been stolen, so my return to her training grounds will be postponed for a while. But after we do this I will travel with you tell you can fight more on your own.” He had not asked avril why she was going with them, he just hoped she would becoming it would be nice to travel with something other than his sister. He already knew his sister would tag along.

"Don't worry Avril, I know all about people who think you cant do something... though with me its not usually because i'm a woman but because of my height. You just gotta give 'em a quick kick (or in my case a punch) to the balls and they shut up" She states with a smile. "I've learned to laugh off most of the insults, mostly because I know I could cause them such pain... and the thought gives me pleasure.."
*uh oh, am i sounding like a sadist or something? hopefully she wont think i'm a freak or something* "I mean... I just like showing them I'm capable enough and seeing the look of shock on their faces..."
She hadn't been aware of the direction they were going before, but she would follow Tokara whereever, so it really didn't matter to her. She did think that unless they had a real purpose for traveling East... *why don't we take care of Sidney's quest first... but wherever Tokara goes I go.*
"Avril, maybe while Tokara gets his weapons fixed you may be able to help with my gear? I'm not sure how long this'll take, you know... boys and their toys. Do you need to take measurements?"

Avril ignored Tokara's comment about her fighting for the time being. While she still was not sure what Sidney was doing she replied to Falabella. "I will need measurements, but not right now, it would be better to get them at a tailor's where they have to gear and equipment. Sidney, if you don't mind I'm going to go with Falabella to do some tailoring on her and our gear. I need your chaps though." she says as she waits for him to take them off and give them to her.

Sid first responds to Tokara, "I could make your weapon for you instead of you having to pay, it would be good experience for me. And we'll head east with you to the port, I'm not in the condition to head west yet, heck I don't even know how many fractures haven't yet healed, but to the west is where I really need to go after we make it to the port town."

After he says this he hears Avril relatively abruptly ask him to give her his chaps so that she can mend them. "Um... You mean you want them right... now?" asks Sid hesitantly, "O.k.", he says as he slowly takes off his chaps. The only reason he does it slowly is that he is in obvious pain from bending down. He then hands them over to Avril, leaving himself in just his shirt, shoes, and what would be similar to modern day boxers. (not the tight kind)

"If you don't mind, I'd like them patch with parts of the bottom of the leggings.", says Sid a little embarrassed about standing in the streets of a National Capital dressed as he is.

Tokara heard avrils words to sid for his chaps, he was wondering if sid had something under his chaps. He would soon discover his worst fears. He just covered his face as he started to laugh. Seeing Sidney in almost sleeping shorts in the middle of the road. He then put his sword away and patted Sidney on the shoulder. “not to be horses ass but you know you might want something to wear if you’re going to be blacksmithing. But thanks for offering to make me a new blade I will take you up on that.”

Tokara waited for when Sidney was ready to lead him. he wasn’t going to ask why Sidney wanted to head west but he would ask him more when it was just the two of them. “so while you two head to the tailors I will help Sidney with blacksmithing. Sidney if your fractured bones I don’t think you will be able to lift too much alone will you?” tokara had never broken a bone in his body but he had seen people who had it took a while to heal.

A 'What's he up to?' look came across her face. *If i leave his side he may run away... but i really need to go to the tailors... I owe him kinda big for the gear thing... will he ditch me knowing that?* "Brother, I'm so happy you found someone to help you with your gear, though it'll never match up to the gear you used to have... *Burn!* Sidney, do you think you could take my arrows and melt the heads down into a form for me? I would like to keep the shaft of the arrows still, I have plans for later." She tells Sidney the shape she would like, that of her Damaging Needles, hopefully he can make them well.
"Brother, don't even think of leaving me. Lets meet at a shop that sells travel gear when we're done.. or maybe we should bring Sidney's pants to him so he's not wandering around... like that..." She had been trying not to look, not so sure how well she pulled it off though. Changing the subject as quickly as she could, she speaks again to Avril. "Ok, Avril, looks like we're off to the tailors... Do you know where it is?"

Avril blushes a little when she sees that Sidney had not been wearing pants underneath his chaps. She then takes the chaps. Then she listens to Tokara and Falabella. "Yes, I am quite familiar with the tailors. It was one of the few places I was able to go when I lived at home." She then thinks about the question of where to meet.

"Perhaps we should just meet back at the gate there?" suggests Avril since it was a place that all of them were familiar with. With that she prepares to leave once everyone agrees on a meeting place.

Sidney ignores the ribbing that he gets from Tokara, and the looks from Falabella and Avril. He then takes the Arrows that she handed him. "Should be easy enough to do... might be really easy, depending on if Tokara co-operates with something or not. Anyways, I think it's a good idea to meet back here. I don't know where the tailor is, and don't know much of the city except for the Barracks, Shelter, The Workshop, and the Gate. I don't know which will take longer to do, the tailoring, or the smithing, so I'm sorry if we take a while." Sidney starts walking up the street and then turns back, "Oh and Falabella, don't worry, I'll keep an eye on him." He then does a quick wave and turns back around, continuing down the street much to the notice of the locals who stare at him like he's an idiot.

Tokara follows after Sidney. “Me cooperate, I am more surprised you’re helping. I member you being quite the asshole.” Tokara let out a laugh but he was also wondering why Sidney was so helpful now. But he was also wondered about other things. Then hearing falabellas comment tokara let out a laugh. “Oh I know that’s why I am going to squeeze you for every coin you make when we leave this town.” Tokara would slowly follow Sidney heading to the blacksmiths. Hearing Sidney would watch him made him wonder if he would really tr to keep him in line. Tokara couldn’t help it. It wasn’t his fault the only female who his sister aloud around him was centaurs.
