    __________________________________________________________________

Personality: Lesper is constantly conflicted with his outgoing origins, and then his forcibly taught introvert nature. He is always wondering if what he is going to say will be unpleasant in any way, and is continuously wondering if he should bite his tongue. If it is on a subject that he knows quite a bit about, he can talk a good amount, but he is mostly silent when he knows the subject does not pertain to him. He is not trusting of many, but when he is with someone that has earned his trust; he seldom holds back his thoughts.

He is shy around women, especially those who are open and show an early kinship with him. If he is in his hood he will tuck his chin and mouth under it and pull it over his head, usually to hide a bashful smile from them. Though he believes in chivalry, he chooses his battles very carefully; he chooses pacifism over aggression, but when there is no other way around it, he is known to not hold back his full extent of violent behavior.

He does have a very dark side now. If he is around anyone that acts like his former master, he will lash out violently, even go so far as to strike at them. It has only happened once that people know of, but Lesper has an especially hard time controlling himself when this happens. He strives to confront this horrific side of himself, but after years of abuse and inhumane treatment, even the most stable people can be broken.

Motivation: Lesper has been through the absolute worst nightmare that any child could ever dream of going through. For years he has gone through life, hoping beyond hope that he will never live like he did as the old man's apprentice. He lives only to make sure that no one ever suffers through anything like that again. He also wishes to see what is beyond the next horizon.

When Lesper returned to his hometown, he saw that his father and sister had fled for one reason or another. Now Lesper has scoured much of the civilized world in search for any trace of them. Though he is not entirely sure what state of mind they will be in, or if they will even believe that he is their Lesper that they lost so long ago.

In the end, it all boils down to a normal life. Lesper just wants to forget about his dark upbringings, throw down his black cloak, and live a normal life. He may even want a family to live together happily. This would be Lesper's happiest end game.

History: The son of Manon and Silva Harlek, born in Atrum but his family moved to the Lumanarium Town, Rediutum along with his older sister, Zita soon after he was born. For the first part of his life, he and his older sister (by two years) Zita went to School, and often played in the fields west of the town. When they were young, Lesper counted on Zita for much of her knowledge in life, as he found her to be the smartest person in the world. She would help him with his homework, and even teach him songs to help him remember certain useful tidbits of information that he had problems with. The both of them were more or less raised by their father, who worked as a carpenter but was never too busy to give them the attention and love that they needed. Their mother, however, found that keeping the house clean and cooking was work enough for her, even going so far as to call the lot of them burdens on her life. She blamed her children for keeping them from being rich and having the life she wanted for herself.

When Lesper came to the age of twelve, his mother chastised him on a daily basis because he did not have a job, the same way she nagged his sister until Zita finally got a job at the Happy Hearth Inn as a waitress. Though his father tried to reason with her, she would hear none of it. It only took him three days to get a job at the local tavern, ran by a kindly old man named Nerzeil. Though he could not pay the boy much, his hours were reasonable, and his job of scrubbing the floor was fairly simple, and many people tipped the boy out of pity.

After working in the tavern for several months, Lesper had proven to be one of Nerzeil’s better workers, so much that they stayed late hours after work. During these times, the old man would tell Lesper wondrous tales of lands far over the horizons, and his adventures he had in his youth. However, on a seemingly normal day, the old man closed the store with an eerie glare at how a chill lurked in the air that night. Though Lesper wanted to stay late once again, Nerzeil did not think it was such a good idea, and despite his best efforts to make the boy leave, the door unlocked, seemingly by itself, and opened.

There stood Eloctum, a tall, haggard, hideous old man who glared directly at Nerzeil from the doorway. He wore an old black cloak and a gruesome smile smothered across his scarred face. Without being told, Lesper hid behind the bar as they began their dubious conversation. The boy learned that Nerzeil was once a very powerful mage, who built himself a reputation as a force to be reckoned with. Somewhere along the way, he had crossed Eloctum, the Necromancer, and he chose then to collect his blood bounty. The conversation soon escalated into an argument, and without warning, the Necromancer struck. Soon the sounds of blasts and combustions rang out through the city, as the wizards dueled in that small tavern. Though many heard, only Lesper bared witness to the utter decimation inside that structure. Though Nerzeil proved to still bare many of his old skills, Eloctum claimed victory as he sent the old mage a life-draining surge of energy that sent him strewn across the ground.

After claiming Nerzeil's life, the Necromancer came to the quivering boy hobbled behind the bar. His first instinct was to simply kill the boy and be done with it. However, the Necromancer had a much more fun idea in mind. He grinned a haggard smile down at the boy as he pointed his wand at the corpse, using dark magic, he made it into a literal meat puppet and stood it on its feet. He commanded the boy to look at it, and then began to ask him questions. He gave the boy trivia on the dead, asking him if he knew what rigor mortis was. When the boy said no, he chastised him, calling him a stupid little bastard. And when the boy knew nothing of decomposition and rotting flesh, that was when the Necromancer felt the boy needed to be educated. He grabbed the boy by the neck and pulled him face to face, saying that he was going to a new school, and if he didn't like it, he could turn him into a pile of bloody flesh instead. As a first test, the old man changed Nerzeil's corpse into nothing but a pile of bones, and picked up his skull from the floor. He handed it to Lesper, and told him that if he dropped it even once, it would mean his death. The old geezer cloaked their presence from any bystanders and he dragged the child out of the city. Across miles of land, the old Necromancer brought Lesper to his home. He resided underneath an old mansion, in the catacombs. There, with no explanation of any kind, he threw the boy into a room with not so much as a bed to lie on, and shut him in until the next morning.

Thus began what Lesper would know as the "Gloom of his Life." Every morning was met with continuous death threats, and every day, he was forced to handle the dead. Whether it be to carry a body, clean up clods of flesh from the floor, or even take a shovel to the grave sites and search for the least decayed corpse he could find, he did it with no argument, otherwise he was severely beaten and given a taste of the sickening green flame that the Necromancer emitted from his fingertips. The thought of escaping crossed Lesper's mind once or twice, but it was revealed that the old bastard thought of that too. It was revealed to him that Nerzeil's skull carried an enchantment which kept it within Eloctum's sight. Though he was brutally sadistic and sick-minded, Eloctum was quite a good teacher, within the first few months Lesper found out more than he ever wanted to know about the dead and how people died. Before long, the Necromancer passed down his old wand to the boy, and decided to see what he could learn. Over time, Lesper reluctantly began to learn the black magic; he was taught how such magic reanimated the dead, and even animated certain objects. Poisons and mixtures were also hammered into his knowledge, as well as the Necromancer's incantation for green flames.

Then came the very first time that he summoned a skeleton. To his great surprise, there came a teenage girl's squeal of joy as it rose from the ground. The summoned bones introduced herself as Emia, and instantly took a liking to how cute Lesper was. The boy was too confused to even react to her cuddling and joyful nature. Though he acted like a jerk to the skeleton, it a very much needed joy outlet to the horrible treatment he was given on a daily basis. While he did appreciate her cheer, he forbade her from acting in such a manner in front of the master.

Though he called the Eloctum master, he still deeply scorned the old man. Though he was not allowed to show it, Eloctum wanted him to feel it, the hatred drove him to learn even more so that one day he would gain the power to kill the bastard Necromancer. He was given the traditional black cloak, and assisted the old man in his so-called "errands." The longest four years of Lesper's life passed, and just when Lesper thought he would never escape the bastard Necromancer, there came one errand that did not sit well with Eloctum. It was the first time the boy had ever seen fear in the old Necromancer's eyes as they ventured out into a grassy field in the falling dusk. An eerie, gray clouded sky hung above their heads as they approached a very large figure in the middle of the plains. As they neared it, he saw it was a very tall man, clad in black metal armor. He stood tall, his hand resting on the largest sword Lesper had ever seen sheathed at his hip. Unlike Eloctum, Zelthen was clean-cut, sharp and deathly intimidating simply in his stature. As Eloctum spoke to him, he mentioned his end of a bargain being completed, and was ready for Zelthen to hold up his end. An infamous smile crept over the warrior's face, and he played ignorance of any such deal. Before Eloctum could even speak one syllable of protest, the broad sword was swiped out of Zelthen's scabbard, and plunged directly in the center of the old Necromancer's chest.

Before Lesper could even begin to comprehend what had just taken place, the Death Knight turned his gaze to the young Necromancer's Apprentice. The boy dropped to his knees in front of the Death Knight, and tore open the front of his shirt, revealing his bare chest, accepting, nay, pleading death at that very moment. Zelthen simply laughed, sheathing his sword, he turned to his ebon steed and mounted it. He glanced at the boy once more before turning and riding away. He left the boy alone, not only alone, but free.

He had no real options, so he returned to his hometown town. He barely recognized it at that point. Four years seemed like four decades to him, as the people there greeted him with no smiles, but dubious glances and fear. His heart sunk as he saw that their house was an abandoned, filthy mess. Finally, at the inn his sister worked, he found a familiar face. The head caretaker recognized him, and was sad to tell him about what befell his family. His mother, stricken with grief of her lost son, lost her sanity and hung herself in her room. His father and sister left his home town in search of Lesper, and she had no idea where they went. He declined her offer of a room, the utter disappointment of revisiting his childhood hung like a shackle over him.

He did not sleep that night, he simply walked, and began to understand why that bastard Zelthen didn't kill him. He knew this would happen, that black-armored bastard let him live with the torment of his new-found life. All of these questions for his existence weighed so heavily on him now. Lesper kept up down the road, he didn't know how many miles he ambled, but he walked.

RP Sample: Pleasant nights like this did not come so often so late in the winter. Lesper pulled his hood back some and gazed at the perfectly round moon in the sky, and drew in the night air, blowing out a breath that was visible in the chill. This region of Atrum was scarce in population, the soil was not fertile at all, and temperatures grew so harsh in the summer and the winter. Though the people abandoned these parts, they left behind remnants and structures that had yet to be explored.

Then, as if it ne'er skipped a beat, there was a rather large house, almost the size of a very small castle, settled directly beneath the moon from the view of the outer gate. Fortune seemed to smile upon Lesper that beautiful night, as there was quite a large chain connecting the gate doors together, hanging across the middle was a very old looking lock. Whoever crafted it was very skilled as it did indeed look strong enough to withstand several swipes of a sword.

Lesper knew just the thing to fix this, pulling his wand out of the inner pocket of his cloak. He poked the tip into the key slot and chanted.

"Nasuna Faeurie." A bright green light blared from the wand's tip into the lock, causing the lock to pop out of its socket and hang from its last remaining joint. He used the flaring tip to pull it from the chain and untied the gate. He made his way across the courtyard, his wand still omitting the green light so that it could guide his way. He used a similar tactic on the door lock and slowly pushed it open. The hinges creaked as the portal opened wide, and he stood at the threshold, looking both ways before continuing on in the main room.

Cobwebs were almost decorative in their patterns across the room, old stone statuettes stood on end tables absolutely covered in them. The air was so dense in the room, were he claustrophobic this would be nearly impossible. If he were to even touch the furniture, the dust would kick up and choke him mercilessly, so he made sure not to touch anything that did not catch his interest.

The room was so large, bookshelves lined the walls but they were very scarcely occupied. The only texts he could find were oddly titled stories and a recipe book that dated back far before he was born. He sighed, what a boring, bleak mansion. He slowly began to realize why no one bothered to break into such a place. But as he turned, a large, fanged bestial face stared direct at him as the light flared it into view. His body quickly locked and jumped at the sight, but it was a simple, stone gargoyle. His jumping movement caused his wand to catch fire to the cobwebs around it, which flared and then died down quickly. He took a deep breath, his impulse told him to blast it into pebbles, but he restrained himself; he did not want to waste energy on such a trivial matter.

However, as he looked closer at the gargoyle, something behind it caught his eye. He leaned over to get a better look, seeing that there was a gemstone mounted on a stone plack directly behind the gargoyle. His eyes brightened and ducked below the stone wings and eased up behind the crude statue. He dimmed the tip of his wand down to a dull glow so that the flame did not harm the stone as he inspected it up close. He did not see any sort of adhesive or melding to hold it in place. It was a simple matter of sliding it out without harming it on the edges of the stone. However, the very instant the skin of his fingertip touched the gem, it glowed a very bright green. To his trained eye, he could tell that the glow was magic in nature, and this worried him more than a little.

The gargoyle's wing that touched his shoulder suddenly slid across his arm, and he heard the rumbling of stone from behind him. Quickly putting odds and ends together, Lesper wasted no time, pointing the wand over his shoulder and turning his head to the side.

"Nasuna Faeurie!" He shouted, this time a ball of green fire shot behind him. It was poorly aimed, only hitting the gargoyle's shoulder and part of its wing. Still, it was enough to knock it forward. He was able to slip past it and back away. He got a good look at the stone-skinned beast, noting its subtle growth in size since its reanimation. For a moment he wondered why someone would leave such a sophisticated sentry behind, but that was of no concern at the moment. The gargoyle did not seem to know emotions, but it knew how to attack. It began to charge.

It was a heavy one, and by the way it ran it seemed to be quite clumsy as well. Though it grew in size it still bared blemishes all over its aged body. With no time to lose, Lesper pointed his fist at the stone beast and shouted "Nagra Mia!" Black mist blurted out from his palm, with such limited time he couldn't cover himself, however with a wall of dark mist formed in front of him, he ducked behind it and rolled out of the way. The black mist scattered on impact.

Lesper wasn't sure if it was stunned or what but he did not wait to find out. He jumped up onto the filthy couch, a cloud of dust blanketing the air around him as he leaped over the back. He could feel the thrashing on the ground as the gargoyle began to charge him once again, this time charging straight through the furniture, bashing it into splinters and fluff. With no hesitation, Lesper pulled the dagger from its holder, and hoped like hell that this would work. He ran straight at the gemstone in the wall, with the hilt of his dagger swinging around and hammering into the gem. In a bright burst of yellow light, the gem was destroyed. Though the gargoyle was stopped, it was far too sudden, and its momentum brought it sliding down across the floor. As soon as Lesper noticed it was still coming at him, it was too late. In his attempted leap over the gargoyle, his ankle caught onto the wing and he fell forward onto its back. His cheek hit the side of its leg hard, obviously causing a future bruise and a present rip on the inside of his cheek.

He got off of the gargoyle's back and stood up slowly. After spitting a spackle of blood onto the floor, the young man lost interest in this very large house. Even if there were several more rooms to explore, he was content with escaping while he still had the option.

As he walked toward the door, he looked back at the now still, stone figure.

"Kisame..." He cursed at it, and made his exit. On to the next.

well i see no problems besides the fact dark element is the best for necromancy but you can do it with any really its just a magic style.  also you can apply for a level 3 rather then a level 1 where you put so much effort in to it. but you would need to put 1 more prargraph i believe in personality and 2 more for motivation.  also if you like we can make the death knight in your history a npc but you would have no control that is if you want to face him at some point in your characters life if you live that long.

also where your light i believe you get +2 to your stamina.

Just giving my opinion here and bringing up something Forty missed.

    1. Due to plot, for you to be Dark Element, your character should have been born in Atrum, the Dark Country, to be the Dark Element as your element is something that you are born with. Even if his mother had been travelling at the time and had him in an inn and he was only in the country for an hour or so.

    2. Other than the above mentioned, the application looks very, very good.

    3. The Death Knight, Zelthen, looks a lot like something we could use as a HAVOK, which is again something plot based, if you don't mind us involving him that is.

I have added the Atrum thing, tell me if I need more of an explanation. If you'd like to use him as a HAVOK, by all means, so long as I still have access to using his character. Thanks!
